Beauty and Lifestyle Favorites: February 2015

february beauty favorites
Happy Monday peeps and welcome back to another monthly favorites post. February was a crazy month, lots happened and it literally flew by without me really wrapping my head around it. But let’s get into all those beauty bits I have loved and used the most this month.

Let’s start with the base. After my week skiing in the Alps wearing no makeup, I liked the feeling of my skin being naked and decided to go with it so the only thing I did all month was wearing my beloved Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and the Neve Cosmetics High Coverage Mineral Foundation in Medium Warm. Despite the name, I don’t think this powder is high coverage at all but it does a good job at uniforming and mattifying my skin. The lasting power is just enough to get me through a day of work. I bought the sample size pot and after three weeks of use I’m far away from finishing it, but I think I will repurchase full size when the time comes.

For eyes I have been loving the Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 07, a gorgeous sparkling golden champagne that looks amazing by itself but even better when used as a base all over the lid and inner corners. It doesn’t crease and stays on all day giving you the most bright eyes. On top of that I have been using the two lighter shades of the Kiko Queen of Hearts Eyeshadow Palette in 01 Essential Brown. This limited edition palette would deserve a shrine all for itself, but being sold out, I feel bad mentioning it if any of you are as impressed as I am. In any case, I love each and every shadow in this palette and especially the two top shades, so warm and shimmery. Love, I tell you! More of the same feelings go towards my Liberty Twelve filled with Nabla Eyeshadow refills. The mattes Narciso and Petra are the perfect crease shades and each and Aphrodite, Grenadine, Rush and Daphne n.2 have been some of my favorites.
Enough with eyeshadow blabbing, you heard me raving about the L’Oréal Brow Artist Plumper here and the Lancome Hypnose mascara here so I’ll be short: you need them in your life! Final favorite is Caroline Hiron’s Beauty Mouth. This is what she calls her newsletter that I find every morning in my inbox and has become part of my morning routine. She has the best skincare tips and I have discovered great products thanks to her blog. I suggest you go take a read here.

Now to the unpleasant bits. I mentioned above how I religiously use the Maybeline Fit Me Concealer, so when that ran out I thought I would branch out and try another concealer from the brand, the Maybelline SuperStay 24h Concealer in 2-Light Beige. I though this shade would fit me, and the shade looks just right, but has a horrible grey undertone that makes me look as if I just came out of and episode o the Walking Dead. Not pretty, I tell you! Too bad because the formula is really nice. Other fail product is the Maybelline The Colossal Go Extreme! mascara, and the reason is simply because it is all that the Lancome Hypnose is not. It has a huge brush that is difficult to use without smearing mascara everywhere, it takes 5-6 coats for me to get the look I’m going for and finally the moment a tear or a drop of water comes near it, it runs all over the place. No, just no.

So here we go, these were all my favorites and unfavorites of the month of February! Have you tried any of these before? What were your favorites this month?
