Ah holidays and shopping, a winning couple if you ask me. Over the Christmas holidays I went to visit my family in Italy, other than eating my self to oblivion, I went a few times to shop in Sephora, Wycon and the drugstore. I had made a wish/shopping list for both skincare and makeup to start with, and went from there to pick up a few more things.
I absolutely had to visit Sephora since there isn’t one in The Netherlands and I was tempted by many things, mainly the Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundation. I got color matched and tried it on and was incredibly impressed with the finish and feeling of it, but I needed more time to think before spending 40€ on a foundation I didn’t really need. So while I “thought about it” I went ahead and bought three Sephora face masks (Green Tea, Honey and pore clarifying), one of which I used immediately since my skin was in the worst conditions after all the sugar from Christmas. As happens to most, then I was sucked in by the minis at the checkout line and grabbed the mini Makeup Forever HD Loose Powder for just 12€ and was a happy camper. I am yet to try these products, except for the Pore Clarifying Mask, which I quite liked for texture, short waiting time and cleansing power.
After consulting some fellow bloggers I decided to not purchase the MUFE HD foundation and go for a drugstore alternative instead: the Pupa Made To Last Foundation. It is praised as amazing for combination and oily skin so I picked it up in the shade 030. I used it a few times applied with a damp makeup sponge and I am not a big fan so far. I find it sits too heavy on the skin and is very visible, but I’ll keep using it in different ways and maybe try a primer before I fail it completely. I am putting together a post on drugstore foundations for combination-oily skin so you´ll have my full review there soon.
From my shopping list I managed to pick up 4 Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks and a black pencil at Wycon Cosmetics. From left to right, 08 Sangria, 14 Arancio, 28 Mandorla and 30 Mattone. The formula of these is moussy and quite liquid but dries really matte and has a great staying power. with Mandorla being the most stunning everyday color. I heard the best things about the Long lasting Eye Liner in Deep Black and I am super impressed with this matte black liner as it is super pigmented stays put in the waterline for a whole day.
I went for a brief trip to a bio beauty store to check out some of my favorite brands like Nabla, Biofficina Toscana and Neve Cosmetics but the bits I was interested in were sold out so I ended up only with the Neve Rugiada per makeup (literally translate, makeup dew), a mixing medium for pigments, which I want to use both as base and to use pigments as eyeliners.
Right before Christmas Mulac Cosmetics released a new line of lipsticks, the Groovy lips, and together with some friends (Fran from Being Cute is not a Crime and Paola from The Most Beautiful Makeup is Confidence) we placed a big order and I got Wonka, a red based brown, Rudolph, a warm nude that looks different on everyone, and Candy Cane, a fuchsia with an unbelievable metallic sheen. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you would have seen some swatches and looks with these already. I am obsessed!
I didn’t go to Kiko Milano at all on my trip to Italy since a brand store opened in my city and I waited for the sales to pick up a few things once I was back. I think a Kiko haul might also be on the way. Would you like to see what I bought of their recent launches? With Black Friday and the January sales, I have quite a lot of new stuff. Let me know in the comments.

And finally the only beauty-related present from Santa was the much desired Tangle Teezer Blow Styling Tool – Half Paddle Brushthat I had seen Cami The Deathberry use in this video here. It really does help blow drying the hair faster and get a straight style without any fuss. For one who is terrible with round brushes like me, it really is a savior!
So here are all the beauty bits I got in my recent trip to Italy for the holidays. Let me know in the comments if you like to see hauls of the latest Kiko orders I made and it will be up soon!
