February 2016 Most Played and Favorites

february beauty favorites #teammostplayed
Second installment of the most played products of 2016. I started this new format last month (here) to change things up and be part of the #teammostplayed started by Goldenvi0let. This means you will see products I used constantly during the month, but they may not be strictly my favorites.
February was a crazy hectic month since I defended my PhD on the 25th and spent lots of time organizing, freaking out and hugging my family who drove all over here from Italy for the occasion. Looking back I realized there are a few products I used consistently and colors I leaned towards so let’s take a look.

In my quest of finding the best drugstore foundations for combination/oily skin, I bumped into the Catrice All Matt Plus foundation on Silvia’s blog Edel Jungfrau a few months ago and I found myself using it pretty much every day in February. I mix shades 020 and 030 to match my skin tone, while I wait for shade 025 to release with the spring collection. The foundation does it’s job perfectly: keeps me matte, doesn’t look cakey and lasts all day long. I definitely recommend it!
I realized I have 20000 concealers in my stash so this month I really put an effort into finishing up the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 20 Sand. This is still my favorite under eye concealer, but I want to try some other drugstore ones that seem very promising! To apply it I started using the Real Techniques Setting Brush, instead of my usual Zoeva 110 Face Shape. I saw the queen Lisa Eldridge use a fluffy brush for concealer and it looked so natural and flawless I wanted to do it as well! Now I am definitely sold!
At the end of January I got chosen to be part of the Glamour Beauty Lovers for Estee Lauder and was sent the Pure Color Nail Laquer in P1 Empowered. This gorgeous red nail polish with golden sheen was meant to embody February as the month of love and it brought such a pop of color on my nails! Other than the color, I am honestly so impressed with the lasting power! It lasted on my nails for a week and it was the only color I wore all month. Even my boyfriend loves it. Shocker! I am always an advocate of drugstore products, but this Estee lauder nail polish is definitely worth the money!

As for the rest of the makeup, Valentine’s day got to my head and I wore lots more pink makeup than ever before this month (here, here, here), getting a lot of use from Makeup geek Cupcake eyeshadow, a definite must have in anyone’s collection. These are the mysteries of makeup life. On the other hand, I don’t think I wore the same lipstick twice this month. Honorable mentions go to the L’Oréal Collection Privée Blake’s Red, which I wore at my defense and lasted perfectly all through dinner as well, and Julianne’s Red, which I wore at the PhD party the next day, and lasted wonderfully as well. I have rediscovered how much I love these lipsticks and the perfect matte formula. I wrote a review with swatches a while ago, you can read it here.

These were the products I used the most this month and a small life update. My smart face just before defending my thesis is my February present for you, whether you wanted one or not 😉
Come on March! I’m ready for you!
