March 2016 Most Played and Favorites

Welcome back to another monthly post on the Most Played and Favorite products of the month. Third one of the year in this format, started by Goldenvi0let and collected in the #teammostplayed.
March ahs been a weird month since it is my first one as unemployed. After getting my PhD diploma at the end of February I haven’t found a new exciting step in my career and have spent the month between interviews, home and the gym. This meant that I didn’t wear a lot of makeup and if I did it was all very subdued and work-appropriate. Let’s take a look at my most used products of the month.

Beginning with skincare, I used religiously the Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Foam Cleanse and Purifying Mask that I received form the Glamour Beauty Lovers group. I have combination/oily skin and this cleanser leaves it feeling really clean and gets rid of the dirt deep in the pores as well. However, it does leave my skin slightly dry and it does contain soap-like ingredients. I haven’t noticed any negative effects on my skin, since I always follow it up with a serum or an oil. At the price point of 28€ for the full size though, there are better cleansers out there.

Makeup-wise it has been a pretty subdued month in which I wore a lot of work-appropriate makeup. This always includes a shimmery eyeshadow all over the lid and my new obsession is the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadow Starry Eyed . It brings an incredible shine to the eyes and with a good primer it lasts at least six hours without creasing on my oily eyelids. Going with the appropriate makeup flow, the lippies I used the most this month are the Limecrime Velvetine Riot and NYX Liquid Suede Soft Spoken, two warm nude colors that look elegant and are super long lasting. LOVE! On the cheeks I couldn’t give up the glow, but the Madina Prisma All Over Highlighter in 03 was a perfect compromise for a shine without looking like a disco ball (Hello Mary-Lou). I have used it non-stop all month and I really love the warm champagne color and the formula of this one.

Brows are even more important when the eye looks get simple and the discovery of this month is my new favorite combo: the NYX Tame&Frame Brow Pomade (review here) applied with the E.l.f Eyebrow Duo Brush are a winning team. Another brush I’ve been loving and over-using is the Real Techniques Smudge Brush from the Eyelining Set (review here) because it is the perfect size to smudge shadow under the eyes.

My happiest discovery of the month has been my own stash of eyeshadows that I gathered to dupe the sold out Makeup Geek x Manny MUA palette (post here). I also went totally obsessed over the aqua-warm brown duochrome of Neve Cosmetics Camaleonte and MAC Blue Brown. So much so that I now have a mini size of the MAC pigment and will never look back. As good as the dupes are, Blue Brown is just the best one of the bunch (look here).

A new addition for March and immediate favorite is the NYX Prismatic Eyeshadow in Mermaid. The perfect aqua blue shimmery shade with incredible pigmentation. I used it only as an inner corner highlight for now paired with warm shadows on the rest of the eye (look here), but I can’t wait to use it all over the lid on a sunny day.
Final favorite and most used of the month is my new Daniel Wellington watch that I received as present for the PhD defense from my wonderful boyfriend. He got me the small rose gold watch with both brown and black leather straps that are interchangeable depending on what I am wearing. I have it on any time I leave the house and am absolutely obsessed with it (insert heat eyed emoji).
So here are all my most played and favorite bits of the month. What are yours?
