First twelfth of the year is over and here we are again for the January beauty favorites. I must say January has been great so far from the blog side of things and I’ve been feeling very motivated to write and film and put out more content. I am still figuring out a good schedule for videos and blog posts as well as understanding how I should go about posting videos on the blog or not. But blabbing aside, let’s get into these beauty favorites!
Starting with the base, I have been using the Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless foundation for a few months now and I am officially giving it the status of favorite! It has a very natural finish, keeps the oils well at bay and has a medium coverage. It is less matte than the L’Oréal Infallible Matte and less dying as well! Much better suited for combination skin in my opinion. I love it both with a brush and the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge (read more here).
Talking about sponges, this month’s revelation are the Real Techniques Mini Eraser Sponges that I got in the Miracle Complexion set (read more here). These are perfect to blend out concealer under the eyes much more precisely than their bigger sister, as well as do a pretty good job at cleaning up the edge of the eye looks.
A new entry you saw in my latest haul (here) is the Makeup Geek x Kathleenlights highlighter palette and boy is she a gorgeous one! I am not a fan of pink toned highlights with my warm undertone, but the one in this palette is balanced and beautiful, as is the gold of course. The only shade I haven’t been using much is the bronze shade, but I am definitely going to have use for it in summer!
On my lips I rediscovered the Kiko Precision Lip Pencil 304. It is a beautiful terracotta shade that works well with most of my lipsticks like MAC Bowl Me Over, Retro and others. I have so many of these liners, they are really great quality, but they have been discontinued in favor of other new formulas. Nevertheless, many fellow bloggers recommend the new formulas as well, so I’d say go for it!
In true wintery fashion, I wore Essie Berry Naughty almost all January. It is the perfect dark red in a good formula. I am only annoyed at having bought an old discounted bottle, because now I have to deal with a small brush, instead of the new and easy to use broad one.
For my skin, I have been religiously using my Fall skincare routine but also trying out new masks, among which the Tatcha Resurfacing Mask that I got in a Birchbox. I can’t recommend this mask enough to battle skin texture. It really does an amazing job at fighting all skin texture issues and leaves my skin super smooth for days afterwards. It is a BHA-based mask and suited for all skin types, and every time I use it I think of my friend Fran from Being Cute is not a Crime who turned me to these resurfacing masks in the first place.
Final favorite is a hand cream which is helping preserve my hands in a healthy state. I have started training for Powerlifting more seriously this month and the barbells are destroying my hands. However, together with some scrubbing and The Body Shop Almond Hand and Nail Cream have been keeping my calluses to a healthy (and still aesthetically pleasing) level.
I also have a fail this month, and it is the NYX White Liquid Eyeliner. It dries like paint and flakes off before the rest of the makeup is done. Awful, awful product!
So here you have my January beauty favorites and one colossal fail. What has been your favorite product of the month?
