First twelfth of the year is over and here we are again for the January beauty favorites. I must say January has been great so far from the blog side of things and I’ve been feeling very motivated to write and film and put out more content. I am still figuring out a good schedule for videos and blog posts as well as understanding how I should go about posting videos on the blog or not. But blabbing aside, let’s get into these beauty favorites!
Gold Gold Gold! I’ve had this post in mind for a long time, since a friend asked a comparison between different gold eyeshadows I had. I took pictures and they all sat in my laptop until I came across this video by the gorgeous Elsa of Like a Candy Shop. She shared all of her favorite peach-colored makeup and it pushed me to take out the idea from the drawer. Well good news is that instead of only my favorite gold makeup products, Elsa has agreed to collaborate and share her favorites as well.
Holiday season is upon us, and it’s the perfect excuse to go all out on glam makeup. Today’s video is a makeup tutorial on this purple and gold look for a holiday or New Year’s Eve party in collaboration with a fellow youtuber Rotem Beauty.
For the second year now, I will try to bring you discounts and codes valid for this occasion in the most used beauty-related webshops. For my European readers, I will signal the American website for which you might be charged customs costs. I would personally not suggest you make big purchases (above ~24$) unless you’re prepared to pay around 40% of your purchase extra.
Welcome to a new type of post! I have ventured into making YouTube videos and this is the first one in which I am actually speaking to the camera! Oh my was that weird! I apologize if I’m doing it all wrong, I would love your feedback on the video!
Let’s get to the content though! Kiko Milano released a whole new line of re-formulated primers and I was conveniently out of primers, so I jumped at the opportunity to try them out. I picked up the Matte Face Base, the Neutral Eye Base and the Nude Blur Lip Base and decided to try them out in a first impressions get ready with me video on my YouTube Channel. Check out the video below and subscribe to the Channel if you want to see more videos!
May May May!!! Finally some sun, lots of holidays (thank you catholic-dutch system!), a new job and a new beginning! I am so happy April is over, with its crazy cold November weather, lots of boring days and stress. Nevertheless, makeup made me very happy in April, since I got some really good new bits.
The Infinity eyeshadows are meant to be used together with the Clic Palettes to make and easy and highly customizable system. However, a bit like the Ikea concept, only the Kiko shadows fit in the palettes and viceversa, the eyeshadow pans are not magnetized and they are not suited to be stored in any other palette.
Taking advantages of other discounts earlier in the year I ordered 9 Infinity eyeshadows and a 24 pan palette. There are about 90 colors to choose from and multiple finishes from matte to satin and the Infinity+ glittery shadows.
The idea of customizable palettes is a great one but unfortunately the formula of these shadows was not a great hit. The quality of the Kiko Infinity eyeshadows is not consistent through the finishes and colours. Some are nicely pigmented like the 207 Mat Papaya and 230 Satin Carmine, and others take more building up to reach full color. The most disappointing of the shades I have are 205 Golden Coral, 248 Starry Jarcanda an the Infinity+ 402 Chocolate. It took a good 4 swipes to get a good swatch and even though the colors are gorgeous, they don’t show up on the eyes like this at all.
So in conclusion I would suggest you stop by a physical shop to swatch the individual pans since it is difficult to predict the performance. However, since they are on offer for 1.90€, there are three more in my shopping cart on the Kiko Milano website. I hope the new shadows have been re-formulated as well as re-packaged to have better quality over all the range of colors.
