Here we are for Part 2 of my 2016 makeup favorites. In Part 1 I told you all about my favorite products for the base and the face so now let’s take a look to eyes and lips. As I mentioned before, on the Youtube channel I split my favorites between Italian and other makeup, but on the blog I divided it by product type. So lets take a look at my favorite eye and lip makeup.
I am not one to dwell on the past, but going through my stash to find my 2016 makeup favorites is another matter. I have discovered a lot of amazing new makeup this year, some of which has become my go-to, holy grail, marry me-status makeup so I can’t wait to share them with you. This is a long post!
I’m not one to wear a lot of red lipstick, EXCEPT in December. Holiday season is THE season for red lips in my opinion. In this video I show you my Top 5 Red Lipsticks for the holidays with live swatches and mini reviews for each one.
Welcome back to another episode of The Color Analysis Wars! Tan tan tan (dramatic sound effects). In this series I have collaborated with my friend Fran from Being Cute is Not a Crime to compare how lipsticks look like on the two of us. To know more, read the first episode with the introduction here. Just to remind you, Fran has been analyzed as Deep Winter and I am a Deep Autumn, thanks to Giusy from Rossetto e Merletto. .Moving on to this post, we’re taking a look at nude lipsticks that suits us deep seasons. The main characteristics of these lipsticks is that they do not contain any white or grey, two colors that “kill” deep autumns and winters.
We’re officially a week into Fall and my hands were itching to do something different makeup-wise. So when Natyra on Instagram (@natyrabeauty) suggested a collaboration themed on Gods and Goddesses, I knew I was in. I have always believed in the power of nature, so I would have picked Mother Nature, but because Fall is my favorite season, I decided to homage it by picking the Goddess of Harvest for this fall makeup look.
May is over and I’m writing this post while the weather outside is the worst I’ve seen in a while with pouring rain and black skies. Sigh. Luckily most of May has been great and I have a lot of products to talk about!
As usual, this is a #teammostplayed post in which I show you the products I have been using all month, whether they’re favorites of not. To know more about this hashtag, go over to Goldenvi0let’s blog (here).
Welcome back for the third episode of the I Goth You TAG by Sue of Cosmetic Mind where we explore our dark side. The first episode featured my first ever black smokey eye and you can read it here. I had to skip the second one on scary movies and series because I’m a chicken and can’t watch them without having nightmares for days (I am legend on a stormy night anyone?). But here we are for the episode dedicated to Morticia Adams and her iconic look, the embodiment of goth! The focus is particularly on out favorite dark lipsticks, and boy do I have a lot! So grab a cup of tea and let’s get on with them.
At the beginning of my journey with makeup I refused to wear nude lipsticks because I thought they wouldn’t add to a look and I was better off with some lip balm and be happy. This was when “nude” to me was synonym to “concealer lips” or to Myth by MAC, colors that didn’t fit me or my skin tone. With time I learned there are out there shades that embody that “my lips but better” lip color that I was missing. These shades will fit best those with warm undertones and medium contrast in their colors, among which I fall. Well, once I found that out I ended up hoarding warm nude lipsticks and liquid lipsticks, which brings us to today’s post.
Ah holidays and shopping, a winning couple if you ask me. Over the Christmas holidays I went to visit my family in Italy, other than eating my self to oblivion, I went a few times to shop in Sephora, Wycon and the drugstore. I had made a wish/shopping list for both skincare and makeup to start with, and went from there to pick up a few more things.
