Neutral palettes, how much love can I have for neutral palettes? The new Makeup Revolution Iconic Dreams is no exception. This is the fourth born from the Iconic family of the brand. Where the first three are famous dupes for the three Urban Decay Naked palettes, Iconic Dreams is the All Stars palette.
One of the most important aspects in an eyeshadow palette in my opinion, is to have matte shades. In the Iconic Dreams we find 4: a cream, a yellow, a taupe and a warm brown. The rest are gorgeous shimmers ranging from lighter rose golds, pink and a gold to use all over the lid and as highlights, together with the smokeyer greens and burgundy. Heaven! Both warm and cool toned lovers are set with this palette.
I created this look using the creamy yellow (3rd from the left) all over the eye from lashes to browbone, the warm brown as transition shade in the crease (12th shade), the shimmery champagne (5th shade) all over the lid and the burgundy on the outer third (10th shade).
The eye shadows all applied beautifully and I was particularly impressed with the matte brown which is usually a difficult formulation to get right, and they definitely did. From the swatches you can also see the lovely pigmentation of all the shadows, and the shimmers have this beautiful shine to them that is not chunky at all, making that there is no fall out.
I primed my lids with the new Makeup Revolution Focus & Fix Eye Primer (2.50 pounds here) because I have really oily lids and unfortunately I saw creasing by the end of the day, but with my trusted E.l.f. Cosmetics Eyelid Primer, the shadows lasted all day beautifully. Unfortunately I still haven’t found any high end or drugstore primer that beat the E.l.f. one for my eyes, not even the Lorac primer. On the other hand, I am an extreme case of creasy lids and really distress these poor primers.
Overall I really recommend the Makeup Revolution Iconic Dreams palette, since for only 4 pounds (here) you get 12 beautiful and good quality eyeshadows that you’re sure to be able to use both for everyday makeup and for evening smokey looks.
Have you tried any of the other Iconic palettes? Which one shall I try next?
