Take out the trash #4: summer 2015 empties

Ah the feeling of ending product, that joy of trying out something new or the panic because your favorite cream is finished and you don’t have a backup. A roller coaster indeed and one to share with fellow beauty aficionados. I love reading empties posts because you get to see what people really use and possibly the most honest reviews come from the choice to repurchase something or not. So here are my empties and my final words on them.

Skincare:

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water and Waterproof Makeup Remover have been my dream team all summer, since I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup, these were enough to remove all my makeup before my cleanser. I have repurchased both of them already and get double thumbs-up from me.
Different story for the Garnier Essentials Refreshing Tonic with Vitamins, it was lying in my cabinet for ages and I decided to use it up as a morning toner since it is pleasantly refreshing. However, I will not be buying it again because it wasn’t really doing anything special for my skin and just added a step in my routine.
A great toning step were the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads. Loaded with glycolic acid and witch hazel, they did a great job at keeping my skin fresh looking. They do contain quite a bit of alcohol though, so maybe not for everyone. I haven’t repurchased these yet because I’m using another toner now, but definitely will in the future.
When I reached the last pump of the Biofficina Toscana Purifying Facial Serum I had a mild panic attack. This natural serum helped clear out my skin and keep the oil at bay for about 6 months since I got it in Italy and I didn’t know where to look for a similar product here in The Netherlands. I finally found a drugstore who would ship it here and all was good in my life again. I love it and will repurchase it over and over and over.
Another product I was really sad to finish was the L’Oréal Youth Code Night Cream because it has been discontinued together with one of my favorite serums from the same line This cream wasn’t too heavy but did a great job and nourishing the skin and smelled great. I am having a hard time finding a good substitute unfortunately.
Final skincare item is my Konjac Sponge which has been hanging in the shower for way too long unused and turned a bit grubby. I loved it for the first few months but grew lazy to the point that would only use it once a week when I remembered. My skin is much better now so I won;t buy another one, but will if I break out badly.
Makeup:
Only a few makeup empties this time and they’re all big favorites of mine. The Maybelline Lash Sensational  mascara has been the only mascara I’ve used since I got it. Very similar to the Benefit Rollerlash, it lengthens and volumizes depending on the side of the brush you use. Brilliant! I already have a new tube and the waterproof version as well. I strongly recommend it.
If someone who lives in The Netherlands could tell me where I can find the L’Oréal Lumi Magique Highlighting Pen, I’d be the happiest little beauty addict. I loved using this under my eyes all summer thanks to its light texture and brightening effect. Unfortunately it has disappeared for the drugstore as well. Sigh.
I also went through a bottle of my favorite Brush Cleanser from HEMA, a dutch brand. It is affordable, does a great job and cleaning my brushes and smells pleasantly. That’s all I want from a brush cleanser. I have 3 backup bottles already, no worries here.
So here’s all my empty products of the last period, do you recognize anything you use a well?
