TAG: How long does your skincare routine take?

Every evening when I go to get my makeup off I have the feeling I’m starting a long journey finally reach my bed with a clean and pampered face. It honestly feels like it takes me a quarter to half an hour to finally be ready to go to sleep, so when I read one of Jess’s latest posts over at The Indigo Hours on her evening skincare routine and how it takes her only under eight minutes, I decided to try myself and I was surprised!

I start my routine by removing my eye and lip makeup with the Garnier Express 2in1 Eye Makeup Remover on a cotton pad. This takes all my eyeliner, part of my mascara and my stubborn liquid lipsticks off.

Then I proceed to cleanse the rest of my face with the The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil, a favorite since 2014 (here) since it takes all the makeup off and leaves my skin feeling amazing. My second cleanse is then The Body Shop Pomegranate Softening Cream Cleanser (discontinued) or anything not too stripping, that I remove with a warm cloth or just water.

Time to tone, in the evening I am trying to acid tone with the Pixi GlowTonic as a mild exfoliation, without seeing much results for the moment.

Now for the real bombs, I apply a retinol based serum first, right now I’m loving the Paula’s Choice RESIST Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum that I got in the Cosmania Beauty Box (see it here). To then help the skin repair and replenish overnight I use a face oil, specifically the Pai Rosehip Oil at the moment.

Since I like to leave the oil to sink into the skin a bit before moving on, at this point I brush my teeth. I know, not exciting, but gotta do it and it is part of my routine and takes time.

The Biofficina Toscana Eye Area Anti-Wrinkle Treatment and the Avril Night Cream for normal to combination skin are the last two skincare products to go on my skin and seal everything in.

So it only takes me seven and a half minutes to go through my whole night time routine. I am impressed and am patting myself on the back. As I said earlier I was pretty convinced I’d be on the fifteen minute mark. My morning routine is surely shorter since there is no makeup removing step but only a quick cleanse.
