May May May!!! Finally some sun, lots of holidays (thank you catholic-dutch system!), a new job and a new beginning! I am so happy April is over, with its crazy cold November weather, lots of boring days and stress. Nevertheless, makeup made me very happy in April, since I got some really good new bits.
As you can read from the title, in this post I’ll show you the Most Played makeup items of this month (to know more about #teammostplayed, check out Goldenvi0let‘s introduction post here), my favorites and a few fails. Lets get into it!
The shy taste of spring we got at the beginning of April convinced me to ditch foundations in favor of a lighter coverage base and my go to is the Garnier BB Cream for combination/oily skin. I mix the Light and Medium shades to get a good match of my current in-between complexion. I like this one a lot since it doesn’t feel heavy or makes me sweat in the warm weather. I still need to set it with powder to fight the shine, but it performs better than the other I tried, like Bourjois and L’Oréal.
For concealer I am a faithful user of the Maybelline Fit Me concealer, but since my last tube finished I followed Giulia’s (Glitters for Breakfast) suggestion to try the Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer 020 Light Beige. This bad boy is high coverage (more than the Fit Me) and really light on the skin. I really recommend it, and it is so ridiculously affordable that you need it in your life!
Two new palettes joined my collection this month, both of which have made it quickly in my daily routine. The Benefit Cheekathon palette contains all the products for a bronzed and flushed look. The shades I use the most are Coralista, Rockateur and Hoola. You can read more about it in my review here. On the eyes I have been loving the Kat von D Shade & Light Eye Contour palette. I got this from the Spanish Sephora through El Corte Ingles, received it within a week from ordering and couldn’t be happier. The quality is amazing, super blendable formula even thoug it kicks up quite a bit of powder. It reminds me of the Lorac Pro palettes, but even better! It has all the neutrals a girl would ever need and a really good black with which I created my first black smokey eye (here).
Another new product that stole my heart is the Kiko Water Eyeshadow 208 Light Gold. This is a beautiful eyeshadow to be used wet or dry, but I have been using it every day as highlighter, and oh my does it glow! I feel like J.Lo when I wear it, I kid you not.
On the lips I have started the #LipsticksOfTheWeek tag, trying to wear every day different lipsticks to make better use of my collection. However, at the beginning of the month I did wear Limecrime Pumpkin a lot and loved it every time a bit more. Beautiful formula for a perfect color.
Now over to the less pleasant part, the fails. I got the Kiko Universal Fit foundation on recommendation from Elsa from Like a Candy Shop and Lily Pebbles who loved it for their combination and normal skins. For me it didn’t really work out and sat on my skin, separating after only a couple of hours. Quite sad about it and need to find a new owner that will love it more. Sigh.
The other disappointments burn more because these two lipsticks are TO DIE FOR when it comes to the shades, not so much the formula. The Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks 360 As You Want Victoria and 660 In Love With Ginger are to amazing super pigmented lipsticks, super bright and gorgeous, but they move. A lot! The super creamy formula is super comfortable to wear but at every smile I end up with lipstick on my teeth, even after making sure there is no excess on the inside of the lips. Luckily they don’t bleed outside of the lip lines, but I can’t be worrying every time I open my mouth whether I have lipstick on my teeth. Sigh. Very sad, I really don’t recommend this formula of lipsticks.
So here were all my favorite, most played and misses for the month of April. May is already my new favorite month, can’t wait for all the exciting plans to come to life!! I’ll keep you posted!
