Take out the trash #7: March – May 2016 empties

beauty empties skincare makeup review
I feel so accomplished when I finish lots of products, so this is quite a positive post for me. It also seems to go in waves of time when everything finishes at the same time which means I can go shopping again ad try new products.
Joyfulness aside, in this empties post as usual I go through the beauty products I have used intensively and finished in the last period and give mini reviews. You can find the earlier posts of this type here.

Skincare and makeup:

It wouldn’t be an empties post without my beloved Garnier waterproof makeup remover. I use it every day to take off my eye and lip makeup, a must have! Some disappointment instead from the Pixi Glow Tonic. It is a glycolic acid-based toner that should help resurface the skin and gently exfoliate the skin day be day. It has been raved about by no less than the skincare guru Caroline Hirons, but I didn’t see any improvement on my skin. And it only lasted a couple of months. Unfortunately I didn’t find it worth the 25€ I spent on it. What was worth its price and more instead is the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Hydrating Serum. I got this last summer when my skin went from oily to normal and used it on and off since, giving my skin relief when it was feeling tight. It has the most wonderful light texture that absorbs quickly and feels like a drink of water after a run. I also finished two eye creams: the Olaz Regenerist Dark Circle Correcting Eye Swirl has been my daytime and the Biofficina Toscana Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream my nighttime eye cream for the past months. No miracles were made, but both creams did their job well and the area was never dry or dehydrated. I have now moved on to try another combination because I haven’t found my holy grail products yet. Last skincare empty is not really empty. I really tried to finish the Avril Night Cream for normal/combination skin but gave up with one third or one quarter of the tube still to go. It is simply too thick and rich for my skin and it leaves my skin extremely greasy and unhappy in the morning.
Finally on to makeup, I said goodbye to my third or maybe forth tube of the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. It is the best drugstore under eye concealer, hands down. I am now testing out others from Catrice, H&M, L.A. Girl and they’re all nice and good, but none comes close to the Maybelline Fit Me. That’s why I always have backups of the shade 20 Sand. The only other makeup bit I managed to finish is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. This is a wonderful liquid liner and the only one black and waterproof enough for my taste. I still have to try Kat von D’s Tattoo Liner in Trooper, but I haven’t felt the need to try anything new really. I already have a backup in use of course.

Hair and Body care:

For the hair, I’m still using industrial sized products and the only one I finished in a while is the L’Oréal Elvive Extraordinary Oil, a light oil for colored hair that really helped to fight dry ends on a daily basis. I really liked it and recommend it, especially because it has a UV filter to protect your color.
For the body I finished the LUSH 93000 miles shower jelly that was a present from a good friend in Canada. It smelled like Christmas and reminded me of her every time I showered, which is weird and inappropriate like us. It lasted more than 6 months and was incredibly enjoyable to use. I also went through two of the Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived gradual tan lotion. This is the repackaged, and I think reformulated, version of my long love Dove Summer Glow. The new packaging is a relief and much easier than the old one. The smell has also improved and the color is the same natural tan that I love.
So here goes another basket full of empty products to the trash bin. I hope you enjoyed some rambling about lovely or disappointing products.
Is there anything you use as well in this pile?
