After last episode’s look into some cozy Fall routines and recipes (here), Marta from Caffelatte for Breakfast has thrown a new challenge at us for the fifth episode of the #FallInLoveTAG2. This time we are exploring Fall Trends by taking inspiration from Pantone’s Fashion Color Report for Fall 2016 (here). When Marta told us to do a Pantone Fall Trends 2016 makeup look, I was of course attracted by the yellow, orange, red and green shades, that are my daily comfort zone. In fact, I just recently published a tutorial on a Thanksgiving makeup look using such colors (here). However, the prompt also said to challenge ourselves, so indecisive and challenged I was while creating this double faced makeup inspired by fall colors.
My solution for not being able to pick between my comfort zone and the cool spectrum was to create two looks on one face and tying them together with a gorgeous red lip.
Products used on both looks:
- Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless foundation (here)
- Neve Cosmetics Hollywood powder (here)
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Banana powder (here)
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow pomade in Chocolate (here)
- Nabla Cosmetics Brow Pot in Mars (here)
- Colourpop x Hello Kitty Ultra Matte Ribbon lipstick (here)
- Ardell Demi Wispies lashes (here)
Cool toned fall smokey eye
For this look I started with Makeup Geek Faux Fur and Band Wagon (swatches here) in the crease to prepare the transition, to then apply Colourpop Fast Lane gel liner as a base for Makeup Geek Boo Berry all over the lid and blended pretty much everywhere. I used Makeup Geek Sorcery and Nabla Cosmetics Water Dream on the lid for that luminous halo, and Nabla Lilac Wonder on the inner corner.
On the cheeks I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, the coolest of the shades, to contour, Colourpop Flexitarian as highlight and a cool toned berry blush from the Tarte Color Wheel palette (review here).
I must say I had a hard time blending Boo Berry and the crease is not as seamless as I’d like it too be, but it’s known that purple and blue shades are more difficult shades, especially in a matte finish. From a color analysis point of view, these really aren’t my colors and you can see it by how much heavier and old this makeup makes me look.
Warm toned fall look
Now over to the warm toned side of the face. These colors are my comfort zone, ones that I wear on a daily basis and when I want to look my best, colors that fit my season Deep Autumn.
I started by blending Makeup Geek Chickadee, Morocco and Cocoa Bear in the crease. Then I used Colourpop Teaspoon gel eyeliner as a base on the lid to add Makeup Geek Epic on top. This is the hero of the look and it is the most gorgeous green I have ever used (swatches here). I used Makeup Geek Corrupt, a black eyeshadow to deepen the outer v, Makeup Geek Untamed on the inner corner and again Morocco on the lower lash line. I made a small wing using the L.A. Girl Fine Line eyeliner. I love the tip of this liner but you can see it’s not as black as I wanted it, and it doesn’t last very long on my watery lines. Looks like I’ll have to go out and buy the Kat von D Trooper liner after all.
On the cheeks I used Makeup Geek Bad Habit warm fair contour powder, Colourpop Lunch Money highlighter and a warm nude blush from the Tarte Colour Wheel blush palette.
So here are my two Pantone Fall 2016 makeup looks for the #FallInLoveTAG2. Which one of the two do you prefer?
