October is here, which means my birthday is close and it is time for my September Beauty Favorites. This month has been quite an intense one with the move overseas and finding an apartment and some sort of normality out here. Nevertheless new experiences, friendships and beauty discoveries were made, so let’s take a look at the makeup I have been loving this month.
May is over and I’m writing this post while the weather outside is the worst I’ve seen in a while with pouring rain and black skies. Sigh. Luckily most of May has been great and I have a lot of products to talk about!
As usual, this is a #teammostplayed post in which I show you the products I have been using all month, whether they’re favorites of not. To know more about this hashtag, go over to Goldenvi0let’s blog (here
May May May!!! Finally some sun, lots of holidays (thank you catholic-dutch system!), a new job and a new beginning! I am so happy April is over, with its crazy cold November weather, lots of boring days and stress. Nevertheless, makeup made me very happy in April, since I got some really good new bits.
As you can read from the title, in this post I’ll show you the Most Played makeup items of this month (to know more about #teammostplayed, check out Goldenvi0let
‘s introduction post here
), my favorites and a few fails. Lets get into it!
Welcome back to another monthly post on the Most Played and Favorite products of the month. Third one of the year in this format, started by Goldenvi0let
and collected in the #teammostplayed
March ahs been a weird month since it is my first one as unemployed. After getting my PhD diploma at the end of February I haven’t found a new exciting step in my career and have spent the month between interviews, home and the gym. This meant that I didn’t wear a lot of makeup and if I did it was all very subdued and work-appropriate. Let’s take a look at my most used products of the month.
Second installment of the most played products of 2016. I started this new format last month (here
) to change things up and be part of the #teammostplayed started by Goldenvi0let
. This means you will see products I used constantly during the month, but they may not be strictly my favorites.
February was a crazy hectic month since I defended my PhD on the 25th and spent lots of time organizing, freaking out and hugging my family who drove all over here from Italy for the occasion. Looking back I realized there are a few products I used consistently and colors I leaned towards so let’s take a look.
Laura Ilmiobeauty (here) tagged me to respond to this tag started by Biancaneve Makeup and Noemi of Parola di Deirdre and share those products I love so much that I keep repurchasing them over and over again. In their posts you can find a product in each of the five chosen beauty categories that they keep repurchasing and love. That said, I totally failed at keeping it to one product per category, the worst one being makeup and skincare. I hope you don’t mind I have so many ride or die products.
Welcome to the first installment of the Fall in love TAG
by the gorgeous Marta from Caffelatte for Breakfast
. Today we talk all about wine, because it’s grape harvest time and who doesn’t love wine?! I personally am not a big red wine drinker, but the color is one of my favorites and comes back in most of my makeup or clothing choices. I want to show you my favorite wine colored makeup and a look that is so me.
Let’s start with eye products. I tried to make realistic swatches of all of these but I feel the red portion of the color isn’t showing up properly, I apologize.
- Makeup Geek Burlesque: a gorgeous matte, perfect to put in the crease;
- Nabla Daphne n.2, I just fell in love as soon as I dipped my finger in this shadow.
- Nabla Grenadine, a bit more on the rosé side of wine, a beautiful red with pink shimmer.
- Lorac Mega Pro Merlot, it’s all in the name, a deep purple-red that I don’t use nearly enough
- Lorac Mega Pro Mulberry, a matte and lighter version of Merlot,
- Zoeva Cream Eyeliner in Magic Moment, beautiful gel liner of a dark wine color. I keep using it even though the formula is not my favorite because of the color.
Going on to lips, I found I don’t have as many lipsticks that remind me of wine as I thought, a good excuse to go pick up MAC Fashion Revival maybe? The winners are for sure the Rimmel by Kate 107 and MAC Diva, whereas the rest tends a bit too purple maybe.
From left to right:
- Wjcon Lipliner 09 Bordeaux Scuro
- Rimmel by Kate 107
- MAC Diva
- Maybelline ColorDrama 110 Pink So Chic
- Maybelline ColorDrama 310 Beery Much
- Catrice Ultimate Stay Lipliner 040 Love the way you plum
As Marta said, let’s not forget our favorite bubbly wines, prosecco and champagne. This is the color of my favorite highlighters for the eye and the cheeks:
- Lorac Pro palette, Champagne
- Makeup Geek ShimmaShimma
- Kiko Water Eyeshadow 200
- The Balm Mary Lou Manizer
- Inglot Gel Liner n.94
- Kiko Long Lasticng Stick Eyeshadow 07
Finally, here is the full look using the Lorac Mega Pro palette, Merlot all over the lid and Mulberry in the crease and then creating a halo effect by applying the Kiko Water Eyeshadow 200 with a wet brush in the center of the lid. On the lips I have Rimmel by Kate lipstick 107 on a base of the Wjcon lipliner in Bordeaux Scuro.
I hope you liked this post and I tag all of you fall lovers to do this tag too! You can find all the information you need in Marta’s post here
