The leaves are slowly changing colors and it is all an excuse to wear more orangey-red eye makeup looks. This time I decided to put together the Makeup Geek Autumn Glow palette with the eyeshadows I own and do a fall makeup tutorial for you guys on my YouTube channel. Here one the blog you can find more information.
Last week I presented the new Makeup Geek eyeshadow releases in this overview post here, and showing you all the foiled shadows swatches and comparisons here. Now it’s time to look at the new Makeup Geek Signature eyeshadows for Fall 2016. There are a total of 9 new eyeshadows of which 7 are matte and 2 are shimmery. All nine new eyeshadows are neutral colors ranging from cool, to warm tones, to orange. I swatched the new shades next to other similar shadows in my collection both from Makeup Geek and other brands. I apologize for the goosebumps in the photos, Fall is here, and I hadn’t turned on the heating yet, brr.
I recently gave you a first look into the new Makeup Geek eyeshadows that launched for Fall 2016 in this post here. Since there are a total of 18 new shades, I decided to show you the comparisons in two separate posts. Let’s start with the new Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadows.
Rather than a specific Fall-themed collection, this is an expansion of the current foiled eyeshadow line. All the new Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadow shades are unique and different from anything existent from the brand. Nevertheless, I think a comparison of each shade with similar ones in my collection could help you get an idea whether you need them or not. A small sad note is that my collection is quite a bit smaller after moving overseas, but I hope you get a good idea of the shades.
After a few hiccups in course of production, the new Makeup Geek eyeshadows for Fall 2016 are here! If you’ve been following me for a while, you must know I’m a Makeup Geek addict, so I was absolutely over the moon when they contacted me to try out their new signature and foiled eyeshadows releasing for Fall 2016. With 9 banging foiled shadows and 9 smooth neutral shades, this collection has something for everyone.
It is no secret that Makeup Geek is my favorite eyeshadow brand, si it will come as now shock that there is another update post. Beauty Bay had a big sale some time ago and I picked up some more shadows on the way. I was initially quite weary of the foiled eyeshadows because of the rumors that they creased, but I finally was won over by the incredible pigmentation and color payoff so I have quite a few of them here. As usual I will give the official description and a mini review for every shade. If you want to see all my other Makeup geek eyeshadows, check out the previous posts here and here.
The company is based in California, USA but ships worldwide at reasonable prices, therefore I started with small orders for 5-6 shadows and built up my collection, until November 2015 when Makeup Geek became available in the European online retailer Beauty Bay. Finally there is no more risk for customs costs (which are 40% of the value and a pain to pay) and fast delivery in the old continent. Since then my collection has grown some more, thanks to the low retail price of the shadows at 6.90€ on beautybay.com.
The quality of the Makeup Geek eyeshadows is overall amazing, with the mattes being my favorites and including a few fails which you’ll see down below. In general though, the blendability and pigmentation are amazing. In showing you my collection, I will include the official description found on the Makeup Geek website and my comments on each single shadow. The swatches are made on my arm without primer and swiped a few times with my finger, to be able to show the color properly.
When writing this post I own only Makeup Geek eyeshadows in pan form from the basic collection, so no foiled eyeshadows or duochromes, but this may change in the near future. Let’s get started.
First Row: these are the Makeup Geek eyeshadows I use on a daily basis to prep, blend, transition and shade.
If I had to choose which ones are my favorite Makeup Geek eyeshadows I’d say Shimma Shimma, Cocoa Bear, Créme Brulee, Cherry Cola and Morocco. But to be honest it’s like picking which one is my favorite child.
I hope this swatch and review post on my Makeup Geek collection is useful in helping you pick your next Makeup Geek eyeshadow or have an idea of some colors in the range. These are only some of the 50+ shades available, there is something for everyone!

Ever since I started playing with makeup, all I would hear is how good the MAC eyeshadows are and how they are a must in every makeup bag. Since I had no intention (or possibility actually) on spending 13€ on an eyeshadow pan, I did my research and found the Makeup Geek shop. This line has been developed by Youtuber Marlena from makeupgeekTV and comprises a wide range of products of which I find the eyshadows the stars.

The shades I still want (swatches from the Makeup Geek website):
These shadows retail for $5.99 on the website and they ship internationally for only $6-$8, making the whole deal quite cheap. The only thing I would suggest to keep in mind is to check the custom taxes in your country when ordering from the US.
On the website you can find a whole bunch of other very interesting products such as their own brushes and pigments. I haven’t tried any of those but I hear they are amazing! Will definitely pick up one or two in my next order from them!
Have you tried any of shadows or other products from the Makeup Geek line? Which one is your favorite?
